"Crash" and "Brokeback" solidified thier chances of winning Best Original and Adapted Screenplay respectively at the Oscars on March 6th (Manila).

"Crash" won the Best Original Screenplay while "Brokeback Mountain", being the front runner at the Oscar race won the Best Adapted Screenplay at the Writers Guild of America. Previously, both movies won in their respective Screenplay categories at the Golden Globe Awards last month. It received raves from movie critics in mid-2005 but was still an big Oscar bet later in December. "Brokeback Mountain", directed by Taiwan-born director Ang Lee is about a tale of forbidden love between two men keeping their affection for two decades. The movie caught the eyes of many spectators and received raves not only from movie experts but also the viewers in many parts of the world.

Matt Dillon in "Crash" is nominated for Oscar Best Actor in a Supporting Role for playing a cop oppressed by discrimination who happens to be a bigot himself.
